Which standards certified playgrounds must meet

IMG_8726.jpg

Indoor playgrounds are a popular recreational activity for families and children. However, in order to ensure a safe and hygienic environment, these playgrounds must comply with certain standards. In this blog post, we will provide an overview of the main standards that indoor playgrounds must comply with.

The most relevant standard in this field is EN 1176-10. This standard contains requirements and test methods for indoor playgrounds and specifies how the various play equipment and surfaces must be designed to prevent injuries and accidents. This includes requirements for the height of slides, swings, and climbing frames, as well as the type and thickness of padding. It also specifies the capacities that must be provided and the technical and static requirements that apply.

In addition to EN 1176-10, there are other standards that may be relevant for indoor playgrounds. EN 1177, for example, specifies requirements for the construction and design of playground surfaces to minimize injuries from falls. EN 71, on the other hand, regulates the safety of toys and sets limits for certain substances.

INFO: The latest drafts of the standard also require the recyclability of the materials used.

In addition to these standards, indoor playgrounds must also comply with local building regulations and permits. This includes compliance with fire protection requirements and adherence to hygiene and cleaning regulations.

As a manufacturer and supplier of indoor playgrounds, we ensure that the products used comply with the relevant standards and regulations. We plan, produce, and implement according to standard. This not only ensures the safety of children, but also protects your company from liability claims.

After the completion of our project, it is highly recommended to have an independent, certified expert or a recognized testing institute (e.g. TUV) carry out an acceptance inspection. We are happy to support you in this process!

Overall, the standards and regulations in the field of indoor playgrounds are very important in order to create a safe and hygienic environment for children. By complying with these standards, we as manufacturers and you as operators of indoor playgrounds can contribute to allowing children to play safely and carefree. With our more than 25 years of experience, we know exactly what a playground should look like according to standards and are happy to advise you!

PS.: Soon there will also be a dedicated standard for trampoline parks. We will keep you updated!
